Abraham

Abraham, first of the patriarchs (founding fathers) of the Jews; regarded as the founder of Judaism. God promised Abraham that his people would inherit Canaan through his son Isaac. As a test of faith and obedience, God commanded Abraham to slay Isaac. Abraham unquestioningly obeyed, and Isaac was spared. (Genesis 11–25.) Muslims consider Abraham an ancestor of the Arabs through another son, Ishmael.
