Abu Bakr
Abu Bakr (c. A.D. 573–634), first Muslim caliph of Arabia in 632, following Muhammad's death. He ordered incursions into Syria and Iraq, thus beginning the Muslim conquests. He was Muhammad's father-in-law, as well as his closest companion and adviser.
