Acapulco
Acapulco (pop. 592,200), seaport and tourist center on the Pacific coast of southern Mexico. Founded in 1550 on a natural harbor, Acapulco was a base for Spanish explorers and an important trading port. Since the 1920s it has been chiefly noted as a winter resort.
