Achaemenids
Achaemenids, Persian dynasty that dominated much of West Asia during the 6th-4th centuries B.C. The outstanding rulers were Cyrus the Great, Darius I, and Xerxes I. It ended when Alexander the Great defeated Darius III in 330.
