Alfred Adler
Adler, Alfred (1870–1937), Austrian psychiatrist who founded the school of individual psychology. Adler believed that feelings of inferiority account for the maladjustment of certain individuals to society. He saw the overcoming of these feelings as the basic human drive for power.
