Agincourt



Agincourt, now Azincourt, village in northwest France, scene of a decisive battle in the Hundred Years' War. On Oct. 25, 1415, English forces under Henry V routed the French under Claude d'Albret, demonstrating the power of the English longbow over a heavily armored enemy. The French lost over 7,000 men, the English only a few hundred.
