Ahmad Shah

Ahmad Shah (1724–73), Afghan ruler who founded the Durrani dynasty. Through several successful invasions of India he acquired a huge empire. Although unable to hold his empire together, he succeeded in strengthening and uniting Afghanistan and is thus often thought of as founder of the modern nation.
