Antarctic Circle



Antarctic Circle, imaginary boundary, 66°30' S lat., marking the northernmost latitude of the Antarctic region at which the sun remains above the horizon at least one day a year, the December solstice, and the southernmost latitude at which the sun is visible at the June solstice. Most of the continent of Antarctica lies within the circle.
