Arapaho

Arapaho, North American tribe of the Algonquian family. They lived as nomadic buffalo hunters on the Great Plains. Fierce enemies of European-American settlement, they were forced onto reservations at the end of the 19th century. The Arapaho are divided into 3 groups: the Southern Arapaho, the Northern Arapaho, and the Gros Ventre. Less than 5,000 Arapaho remain, mostly on reservations in Oklahoma and Wyoming.
