Arcadia

Arcadia, ancient Greek region in central Peloponnesus, enclosed by mountains. The simple life of its rustic inhabitants was idealized by classical pastoral poets and later writers, notably the English poet Sir Philip Sidney, as the embodiment of innocent, virtuous living.
