Mullet

Mullet, any of several species of fish of either the mullet or goatfish families. Fish in the mullet family (also known as gray mullets) have large scales and silvery, stocky bodies that can reach a length of 1 to 3 ft (30 to 90 cm). Their mouths are small and their teeth weak. Living on a mainly vegetarian diet, they inhabit shallow coastal waters in tropical and temperate regions throughout the world. They are fished commercially for their tasty flavor. The common or striped mullet (Mugil cephalus) is the best-known species of this family. Mullets in the goatfish family also live in warm waters.
