Brian Mulroney

Mulroney, Brian (1939– ), prime minister of Canada (1984–93). He was elected leader of the Progressive Conservative Party in 1983. The Conservatives won a parliamentary majority in the 1984 elections by a landslide victory. Mulroney's reelection (1988) assured passage of the U.S.-Canada Free Trade Agreement.
