(Louis-Charles) Alfred de Musset
Musset, (Louis-Charles) Alfred de (1810–57), French romantic poet and playwright. After an affair with George Sand, he wrote Les Nuits (1835–37), some of the finest love poetry in French, and the autobiographical novel Confession of a Child of the Century (1836). His witty plays, including Lorenzaccio (1834), are often produced today.
