National Museum of African Art

National Museum of African Art, museum of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and the only U.S. museum devoted exclusively to African art. The collection includes more than 6,000 pieces, mainly sculpture, textiles, musical instruments, and everyday items like tools and baskets, coming largely from central and west Africa. The museum also contains a library and photographic archives.
