Naturalization



Naturalization, process whereby a resident alien obtains citizenship of a country. In the United States, under the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, a candidate must be over 18, have entered the country legally and have resided there for at least 5 years, be of “good moral character,” be able to read and write English, and take an oath of loyalty and service to the United States.
