Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach



Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel (1714–88), German composer and musician, known as the “Hamburg Bach”; one of the sons of Johann Sebastian Bach. His Essay on the True Art of Playing Keyboard Instruments (1753) is still considered a valid guide to keyboard technique. From 1740 until his death he was court musician and harpsichordist to Frederick the Great.
