Baltimore

Baltimore (pop. 726,100), largest city in Maryland, on the Patapsco River near Chesapeake Bay. The seventh-largest city in the United States, it is one of the nation's busiest ports, an important road, rail, and air transportation hub, and a leading manufacturing center with metallurgical, electronic, and food- processing industries.
