Bannockburn



Bannockburn, battlefield named for a village in Stirlingshire, central Scotland. Here, in 1314, Scottish forces under Robert the Bruce routed the numerically superior English army of King Edward II, assuring the throne of Scotland for Bruce and ending English rule over Scotland for a period.
