Negev
Negev, or Negeb, triangular region of hills, plateaus, and desert in southern Israel, extending south from Beersheba to Elath on the Gulf of Aqaba. It covers around 5,000 sq mi (13,000 sq km), or more than half of Israel. Irrigation has made many areas fertile. It is rich in mineral and natural gas resources.
