Pablo Neruda



Neruda, Pablo (Neftalí Ricardo Reyes Basualto; 1904–73), Chilean poet, diplomat, and communist leader. He won the 1971 Nobel Prize for literature. His verse collections, written in the surrealist vein, include Twenty Love Poems and One Song of Despair (1924), the highly regarded Canto General (1950), and A New Decade: 1958–1967 (tr. 1969).
