Nestorians

Nestorians, members of the heretical Christian sect named for Nestorius (patriarch of Constantinople, 428–431). The sect was condemned by the Council of Ephesus (431) for rejecting the title “Mother of God” for the Virgin Mary, and teaching the existence of 2 persons—divine and human—in Jesus. The modern Nestorian (Assyrian) Church has about 100,000 members.
