Nisei
Nisei (Japanese, “second generation”), those born of immigrant Japanese parents in the United States. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor (1941), some 110,000 Americans of Japanese ancestry were forcibly evacuated from their homes on the West Coast and placed in detention centers, in most cases until World War II had ended.
