Nolde, Emil (Emil Hansen; 1867–1956), German expressionist engraver and painter, notably of landscapes and figures, whose bold, visionary, and highly emotional style is typified in The Prophet (1912), Life of Maria Aegyptiaca (1912), and Marsh Landscape (1916).
