Viscount Northcliffe
Northcliffe, Viscount (1865–1922), publisher who created modern British journalism. On a base of popular journals, starting with the weekly Answers to Correspondents (1888), he built the world's biggest newspaper empire. He founded or bought the London Evening News, Daily Mail, Sunday Dispatch, Daily Mirror, Observer, and Times.
