Jacques Offenbach
Offenbach, Jacques (1819–80), French composer. He wrote over 100 operettas including Orpheus in the Underworld (1858), containing some famous can-can music, and La Belle Hélène (1864). His masterpiece is considered to be the opera Tales of Hoffmann (1881).
