Oilbird

Oilbird, or guacharo (Steatornis caripensis), night-flying bird that lives in caves in northern South America and on Trinidad. It finds its way by echo-location, a batlike sonar device in its ears that emits audible, echoing clicks. It is called the oilbird because Native Americans used the fat of its chicks as cooking oil.
