Old North Church

Old North Church, name given to the old Christ Church in Boston, Mass., immortalized in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem “Paul Revere's Ride”: “Hang a lantern in the belfry arch of the North Church tower as a signal light…,” a warning to the town of the British coming. Today the tower has the first church bells cast in the Colonies, in 1744.
