Frederick Law Olmsted
Olmsted, Frederick Law (1822–1903), U.S. landscape architect and writer. With Calvert Vaux he planned Central Park in New York City. He himself designed parks in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Montreal, and Chicago. In the 1850s he was well known for his perceptive books on the South.
