Onion

Onion (Allium cepa), biennial or perennial plant of either the amaryllis or the lily family. Onions have a bulb that is edible, as are the leaves. There are many varieties: the red onion, the yellow onion, the white onion, and the larger Bermuda and Spanish onions. Other onions include the garlic, the shallot, the leek, and the chive.
