Vittorio Emanuele Orlando
Orlando, Vittorio Emanuele (1860–1952), Italian statesman and prime minister (1917–19). He led the Italian delegation at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919–20, but left the conference because of opposition from U.S. President Wilson regarding territorial compensation for Italy. Orlando retired from politics with the advent of Fascism but returned after the fall of Mussolini.
