Orléans
Orléans (pop. 108,100), city in the Loire Valley, northwest France. Among the ancient buildings still standing are remnants from the time of Julius Caesar's occupation. When the English attacked it in 1429 during the Hundred Years War, Joan of Arc led French soldiers to victory. Industries include flower production, candies, liqueurs, automobiles, and farm machinery.
