Oroville Dam



Oroville Dam, transversing California's Feather River, providing flood control, irrigation, and hydroelectric power. About 80 million cubic yds (61 million cubic m) of sludge and useless material accumulated from gold mining were used to build the strucure (height, 754 ft/230 m; length, 6,920 ft/2,109 m) from 1957–68.
