José Ortega y Gasset
Ortega y Gasset, José (1883–1955), Spanish philosopher whose best-known work, The Revolt of the Masses (1929), attributes Western decadence to the revolt of “mass man” against an intellectual elite. His philosophy attempts to reconcile reason with individual lives and needs.
