Osteosclerosis



Osteosclerosis, abnormal hardening or thickening of the bone, causing brittleness and an inclination to fracture. Called osteopetrosis in children, the disease becomes increasingly serious as growing bone density crowds the bone marrow and limits space for red blood cell production, resulting in extreme anemia.
