Pagan

Pagan, volcanic island in the western Pacific Ocean, one of the Mariana islands. Pagan is only 19 sq mi (49 sq km) in area. Its small population was evacuated when Mount Pagan last erupted (1981). In 1986 it became part of a U.S. commonwealth that includes the Northern Marianas and Guam.
