Paramedic
Paramedic, person who assists medical personnel. Paramedics perform routine medical procedures (X-rays, injections, blood pressure) that allow physicians to treat more critically ill patients. Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedics perform emergency procedures for car crash and heart attack victims and for illnesses of sudden occurrence. They usually travel in ambulances equipped with the appropriate medical equipment for such events and communicate with police and hospital by radio. Paramedic services were introduced by the 1960s.
