Anna Pavlova



Pavlova, Anna (1881–1931), Russian ballerina, considered the greatest of her time. After her debut (1899) in St. Petersburg, she danced with Diaghilev's Ballets Russes before forming her own company. She was famed for her interpretations of The Dying Swan, choreographed for her by Michel Fokine, and of the title role in Giselle.
