Thomas Love Peacock
Peacock, Thomas Love (1785–1866), English novelist and poet, a satirist of contemporary intellectual trends. He was a close friend of Percy Bysshe Shelley and an able administrator in the East India Company. His best poetry is contained in his novels, which he described as comic romances. They include Headlong Hall (1816), Nightmare Abbey (1818), and Crotchet Castle (1831).
