Krzysztof Penderecki

Penderecki, Krzysztof (1933– ), Polish composer. His innovative works used such unorthodox sounds as sawing and typing, scraping instruments, and hissing singers and include Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima (1960) and St. Luke Passion (1965).
