Pepper

Pepper, pungent spice obtained from the black pepper (Piper nigrum) plant, a woody climbing vine of the family Piperaceae native to Java. The unripened berries of the plant are dried and ground to make the black pepper common in every household; white pepper is made from the ripened berries of the same plant.
