Javier Pérez de Cuéllar

Pérez de Cuéllar, Javier (1920– ), former secretary general of the United Nations (1982–91), succeeded by Boutros Boutros Ghali. As a Peruvian diplomat, he had represented Peru as ambassador to the USSR (1969–71) and to the United Nations (1971–75). Since 1992 director of the Republican National Bank in New York.
