Physical education

Physical education, instruction designed to further the health, growth, and athletic capacity of the body. It may include gymnastics, sports, and Asian techniques like yoga. Culturally important in ancient China and ancient Greece, physical education later had a primarily military application until the 19th century, when it began to be incorporated into school programs in Europe and the United States.
