Jean Piaget

Piaget, Jean (1896–1980), Swiss psychologist whose theories of the mental development of children, though now often criticized, have been of paramount importance. He held that children develop intellectually in clear stages and that the ability to reason logically is absent from the early stages. His many books include The Psychology of the Child (1969), and Biology and Knowledge (1971).
