Picric acid



Picric acid, also known as trinitrophenol, toxic, explosive, crystalline acid (C6H3N3O7) with industrial applications. Originally an explosive, it is now more commonly used in textile dyes, electric batteries, burn ointments, and the manufacture of glass. Peter Woulfe, a British chemist, first isolated this acid solid in 1771.
