Platform tennis

Platform tennis, game resembling tennis in which players use paddles to hit a sponge rubber ball back and forth over a net. It is played on an outdoor elevated court 44 ft (13 m) long and 20 ft (6 m) wide surrounded by a wire fence 12 ft (3.7 m) high. Usually two pairs of players play against each other. In platform tennis, a player has one serve per point, and may return balls that have bounced off the fence. Created in 1928, platform tennis was devised so that it could be played in the winter. The court allows for the easy removal of snow.
