Pleurisy
Pleurisy, inflammation of the pleura, the thin membrane covering the outer lung surface and the inner chest wall. It causes a characteristic chest pain, which is often worsened by deep breathing and coughing. It may be caused by infection (e.g., pneumonia, tuberculosis) or by tumors and inflammatory diseases.
