Polyester

Polyester, any of several strong, light synthetic products made from chemical substances derived from petroleum. Polyesters are manufactured in 3 forms: textiles, plastics, and films. Products made from polyester have great strength and durability. Polyester textiles are colorfast and wrinkle-resistant and are widely used in the creation of clothing and home furnishings. Polyester plastics are used to manufacture such products as bottles, household fixtures and appliances, boats, and automobile parts. Polyester films are used to create Mylar, insulation wires, sealing tapes, computer tapes, and other items.
