Popé

Popé (d. c.1692), medicine man of the Pueblo Indians who organized the so-called Pueblo Revolt in 1680 against the Spanish in New Mexico. He succeeded in driving them out of Santa Fe and temporarily destroyed Spanish practices, restoring the Pueblos' ancient traditions.
