Postimpressionism

Postimpressionism, term coined by critic Roger Fry to describe the work of certain painters (1880–90) whose styles, though dissimilar, flowed from, and were a reaction to, impressionism. Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Georges Seurat, and Vincent Van Gogh are considered the principal postimpressionists.
