Precambrian

Precambrian, whole of geological time from the formation of the planet Earth to the start of the Phanerozoic (the eon characterized by the appearance of abundant fossils in rock strata), thus lasting from about 4.55 billion to 570 million years ago. It is essentially equivalent to the Cryptozoic eon.
